Eitech Solar Powered Toy Review

Eitech Solar Model

Eitech is a toy company based in Germany that specializes in steel construction and mortar building sets for kids.  They have kits for ages 4 on up.  The construction materials are brick and mortar or steel.  The kits for younger children are larger and enable the new model builder to get a feel for construction.  The more advanced models make a wide variety of models from houses to transportation vehicles.

The kit I received was for three different solar powered models.  I had the choice to make either a helicopter, airplane or a swamp boat.  I chose to make the helicopter because I thought the kids would like it best.  The propeller has a solar panel that turns when it’s in the sunlight.  This provided no end of entertainment for the kids.

The kits come sorted efficiently.  Pieces were sorted in different compartments to make finding them easy.

We’ve been bombed

Library Bench

One of my favorite things is the unexpected.  Finding things interesting you don’t expect to see in common places.  It’s easy to seek out interesting things but the unexpected brings a bit of surprise to life.  It’s especially intriguing when it’s artwork I can relate to, like say knitting.

We were on a bike ride when I stopped to get a breath after climbing a brutal hill with 100 pounds of twins and trailer on the back of my bike.  When I looked up, there was my first knit bomb.  It was so cool it brought a smile to my tired brain.

Knit bomb on the bike trail

Shortly after seeing this there was an interview in the local paper with local knit bombers.  It seems there is a tree on the same bike trail they are working on.  It’s a long trail so we haven’t found it yet but I’m

You’re Knitting Me”

As you may know I love knitting.  I haven’t done much of it lately but when I d get to knit I love it.  When I saw this clip I just had to share it because as much as I love knitting I love Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks. This is from the Larry Crowne Movie.

Put a Little Umbrella in Your Drink

Today’s post is about another Blogette who makes my blogging life more interesting.  Lesli is great at giveaways and reviews.  She comes up with some great products.  Her reviews on Etsy always make me want to by jewelry which is very dangerous.  I would need a bigger jewelry box.  I love her take on blogging and life.

Definitely check out her current giveaway from Learning Link Technologies.  It’s a $600 value.

Put A Little Umbrella In Your Drink? What’s that all about?

I always try to be optimistic and well “put a little umbrella in my drink”. It is a metaphor for my take on easy peasy ways to make your life more glamorous and lovely without being a gazillionaire sipping a pina colada on a beach. You may just be sipping on a Vitamin Water or a sweet tea in your living room {my personal faves}. Add a little umbrella, you will

Texture

I finished my first crochet project.  I am truly a knitter at heart, which was reinforced by this project.  I took it on because I wanted a quick project to give my cousins for their first baby due June 1.  The baby was overdue and it seems I finished the project the same evening he made his entrance into the world.

In general it went well.  The pattern wasn’t complicated.  I learned it quickly and before I knew it the main part of the blanket was complete.  I laid it out and realized something had gone wrong.  The beginning edge was longer than the final edge.  Somehow I had dropped more than 10 stitches over the course of the blanket.

It helped me to realize a fundamental difference between knit and crochet.  With crochet you have to be more diligent about counting your stitches on EVERY row.  When knitting it is
