Any one who has ever tried to lose weight by dieting has come up against cravings. Often times we are told to just not eat the food our body is demanding. The problem with this thinking is, in reality, cravings are brilliant signals from our body.
This perception that cravings are a failure to stick to our diets is inaccurate. We think, “If only we had the willpower to overcome our weakness we could be thin.” When we look at what cravings do for our body, we realize they are our body’s means of telling us what it needs. Love is in the air and it’s time to celebrate. Valentine’s Day is all about love, as it should be. From years of experience I remember feeling a bit resentful of all the people celebrating love when I felt there was none in my life. Thinking about how difficult it is to be alone on Valentine’s Day, I realized it would have been easier to take if I had shifted my focus on creating more love in my single life.

Food guilt. It creeps up in the most vulnerable of places. If you suffer from food guilt, you know it’s path all too well. You’re hungry. Your body is asking for food. You make a choice, good or bad, and all the time you are eating it, you’re calculating calories, point value, how many ingredients are in there that you “shouldn’t be eating” and the entire meal is ruined.
The guilt manifests. It makes you do crazy things like obsess about calories, restrict food, even when you are dizzy from hunger. It makes you over eat, because you were already “bad”, so why not keep going. It makes you doubt your worth, your right to a healthy and satisfied body,

Love and gratitude permeate the air this holiday season. It is the one time a year, we collectively look around and appreciate those in our lives. We celebrate and remind each other of what makes life truly valuable (I’m not talking about presents . There is no better time to give thanks for our life and look forward to new beginnings as we start another year.
In our family we celebrate several traditions. Today we celebrate Solstice which is the change between autumn and winter. It is the darkest day of the year. The celebration is to welcome back the return of the light. We share our hopes for the coming year and celebrate with a ceremony, a time of giving and a feast.

Sparky Linda Mortimer
Yesterday afternoon we received the most heart-wrenching news. A very dear and beloved friend of our family and the spirit mother to our children was found lifeless in her bed. Sparky Linda Mortimer was a blessed woman who put a smile on the face of every person who knew her. In Sparky’s presence every person felt the love in her heart. You knew in that moment you were loved by a truly special woman. She knew how to share her joy with everyone and made a point of making laughter a constant in every event.
There are no words for the sadness running through an international community of friends who call Sparky family. Sparky left behind no surviving relatives but we all feel the loss of our sister friend.
