Eitech Solar Powered Toy Review

Eitech is a toy company based in Germany that specializes in steel construction and mortar building sets for kids.  They have kits for ages 4 on up.  The construction materials are brick and mortar or steel.  The kits for younger children are larger and enable the new model builder to get a feel for construction.  The more advanced models make a wide variety of models from houses to transportation vehicles.

The kit I received was for three different solar powered models.  I had the choice to make either a helicopter, airplane or a swamp boat.  I chose to make the helicopter because I thought the kids would like it best.  The propeller has a solar panel that turns when it’s in the sunlight.  This provided no end of entertainment for the kids.

The kits come sorted efficiently.  Pieces were sorted in different compartments to make finding them easy.  To be efficient and thorough, I checked to make sure all the pieces were present in the kit.  I counted hundreds of pieces.  There were at least the minimum of pieces they noted in the inventory and then some.  The directions were clear and simple to understand.  There are pictures of each step and details on what part to use and where to put it so no reading is required.

My kids are three so I wasn’t able to include them on the assembly of the helicopter.   It took me about 1.5 hours to complete.  This toy would be a great project to entertain for hours.  Once the toy is put together the kids can choose a different model to create.  It isn’t possible to make all three models simultaneously.  Individually each toy would provide hours of entertainment.

After I put the toy together we took it outside to play.  The kids loved it although with twins there was a lot of negotiating about whose turn it was, how long they had and when they could get another turn.  Here is a video of the solar powered propeller with narration by my son and daughter.
