The holidays are such a wonderful time of year. Celebrations with our friends and family, preparations to make, cooking and sharing all kinds of treats.  To top it off it seems like every where we turn there are cookies.

  • Hello Theresa,

This is a great reminder. Everything intensifies around the Holidays. Emotional, mental and physical energy all become engaged simultaneously and our ability to rely upon our coping skills is compromised. As a result, we find ourselves in “fight or flight” mode or we recluse. In any case, various degrees of stress becomes the rule and not the exception.

As a reflexologist, I see this phenomenon not only at the holidays, but also during times of life changes. Weddings, funerals, arguments, kids going off to school, job changes, etc. Recognizing, objectifying and accepting the fact we are going through something quite overwhelming are the steps required to balancing the psyche.

Your work, counseling — and mine, reflexology — are very similar. We attempt to explore ways to mitigate stress and provide for healing, happiness and empowerment to fill the vacuum created after stressful conditions are overcome.

Thank you for all you do!

    Happy Thanksgiving!
