The Key Ingredient for Transformation
There is a lot of talk these days about transformation. Changing our lives is promoted by coaches, healers, doctors, and gurus. It’s a powerful and exciting concept. Transformation is possible and can happen fast.
Imagine the difference one-year can make. WIth consistent steps towards our goals we see progress and change. We just need to make sure we have all the components for lasting change to occur.
To make a change of any kind we need the following ingredients:
4 Keys to Change
Self-Awareness – To change we have to know who we want to be. If we can’t see the parts of ourselves that created the dynamic in our life we want to change, we can’t create any lasting change in our life. We can force ourselves to change our situation but the moment we let our guard down, we will return to old habits. An example of this is working hard to lose weight only to gain it all back as soon as the goal is reached.
Compelling reason to change - What is your motivation? Identify the real reason you want to see a change in your life before you start implementing any plan. This will motivate you to stay on track and keep going when it feels like changing is harder than staying in the same place.
Honesty – Without the ability to be honest about what is wrong and our efforts to make change, we can deceive ourselves. It is not uncommon to justify our lack of motivation or unwillingness to implement new behaviors. Be willing to take a hard look at what is really wrong and how it got that way.
Responsibility - If you want to create a dramatic change in your life, this is essential to make any progress toward your goals. Without it you will continually come up against setbacks, disappointments and challenges.
All of these are necessary to create change but in the end true change will only occur in your life you are willing to take 100% responsibility for what is happening in your world. You must begin to view everything that happens to you in your life as though you are responsible for its appearance.
When you are willing to be responsible for everything that shows up for you, you are in control of your life. You get to decide what you accept and what you will do to change what is happening.
In every situation, there is always a choice. Being responsible for how you react to what is happening is the only point of control. No one and nothing can make you react in a way you don’t want.
That is where your power is.
